What a great year we have had at Lasting Images! We left our retail space in July after seven happy years there, to embark on a new creative adventure! It has been absolutely the most rewarding time I have had in photography working with my clients in their homes and treasured spaces to create "Art From Your Life". Look for a slideshow of some of our favorite images from the past six months. We are looking forward to a great new year filled with babies, children, seniors and families who really want to remember the moments and capture them in a fresh, creative way. The above image is one of our family in North Carolina this past summer. We had a blast! So glad we had an image to remember it with!!

We had a fabulous group photo session on location with our Senior Portrait Models - the Faces of 2011! They wore clothing from The Buckle and their new Faces t-shirts! Having two seniors at one time has made life busy for everybody, but they took a moment to remember a milestone in the life of their family. Magnolia Gardens

Magnolia Gardens in South Carolina is one of the oldest gardens in this country! It was begun in 1676 and is still owned by the Drayton family who planted it all those years ago. We were surrounded by daffodils, magnolias, fruit trees and gorgeous views everywhere we looked. It was an amazing afternoon - full of inspiration!

We spent an afternoon on location in Magnolia Gardens near Charleston, South Carolina. This garden is gorgeous in the spring and I will post some of my landscape images next. I love the interaction between the girls and had a great time capturing all of the laughter and fun!

We were so blessed to be a part of this special wedding. Sadie was one of our Faces of 2008, and worked as my assistant before heading off to school to become a photographer. It was my priviledge to capture her lasting images at one of our most favorite weddings of all time. Special Occasions designed the stunning floral arrangements; and The Cake Stand in McKinney created a beautiful and delicious cake. Sadie and Chase are a truly beautful couple and so much fun!!! Garrett - America's Next Top Model!

Garrett will be competing at the Model and Talent Expo in Dallas later this month. Last year, he took top honors and hopes to go for the gold this time! We loved working with him as he updated his portfolio. The Buckle helped pull together the perfect look with the blue and white shirts in the first image. We had a great time and look forward to hearing what the scouts and judges think!

Jordan just had his hair cut by Patrick, at Garrett Patton Salon. All dressed up for a meeting, I asked if we could do a quick photo shoot! I love how these turned out!! Our daughter, Samantha, loves animals! She has been wanting to do something for her community this year. She came up with this special event idea for the studio! We will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Arfhouse Care-for-Life Canine Shelter. http://www.arfhouse.com/ Martha and her staff do a wonderful job with the animals they love and care for. They are one of the largest no-kill shelters in the country. We are so happy to be able to help with their work! Sessions are available for $25 per pet + 3 cans of Alpo or Pedigree dog food. This food is for the senior animals at Arfhouse who can no longer eat dry food. We hope you will call for an appointment today!

Sometimes the stars align perfectly and everything goes exactly right in every way. Saturday was one of those days. Rusty and Vickie chose to be married at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek and we had the honor of capturing the day for them to remember. I really wish that the Blue Door were still here. I used to love their Salmon Crusted with Horseradish. My oldest daughter worked there as a waitress and we all miss Das and Shanta so much. The selection of unique, memorable meals in Sherman has definitely been reduced significantly.

In the quest for a new spot, we headed to McKinney to try something different. Our friend, Jared Tredway, had recommended a spot on the square called La Misha. We had an amazing meal filled with Mediterranean delights such as roasted lamb, a wonderful salad and selection of olives, spreads and warm, fresh bread. The food was fabulous, service attentive, and we were treated to a terrific assortment of luscious desserts at the conclusion of our feast. Done with our meal, we strolled the square, window shopped, and listened to some great live music spilling out of another restaurant. My youngest daughter wants to be a photographer like Mom when she grows up. It is the highest compliment a parent can receive for a child to want to be like them. We recently took a trip to the Arboretum and Sam borrowed my camera while I took a nap on the grass. It was a perfect day, complete with a picnic from Central Market. These are two of the images that she returned with. I love how we can both look at the same field of tulips and see them completely differently. She is amazingly creative and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. I want to be a photographer like Sam when I grow up. I'll keep you posted on how that's going. . .

I got the call late last night, and couldn't wait to make my way down to Baylor Hospital in Frisco - which on a side note looks more like a shopping mall than a hospital, had valet parking, and webcams in all of the rooms for family to see the new moms and babies - nice! Well, this was a very fun session - Bailey Elizabeth was about 12 hours old and very cooperative. What a sweetheart! Mom, Dad and baby are doing great!

I can't believe how time is flying this summer. It must have something to do with how busy we have been here at the studio! After a fun and fact-filled few days in Austin at a photography class, we are back with new ideas, equipment and excitement for the next season! Some of our latest finds are some gorgeous dresses for maternity clients and a new jewelry line that we can't live without. We also found a new background that is going to be awesome for families this fall! We are getting ready to send our oldest daughter to college out of state this month, and that is something that gives you pause. I remember when she was little, it doesn't seem that long ago, and I can't really be old enough to have a child in college, can I?

My Dad and Ban Qamar have been best friends for most of their lives. They grew up together as children, roomed together as young working professionals, and vacationed together with their wives and families in later years. Last January, they celebrated their 90th birthdays together, within a day of each other, at a catered dinner surrounded by their families, here at the studio. We took lots of portraits and showed a slideshow of pictures they had collected over the years. This last week, my dad lost his friend to cancer. I am so glad that he has the portraits from last year and the past to remember the good times they shared. This is what Lasting Images is all about.

Coming from Austin almost 9 years ago, I was spoiled by the many really amazing places near my home that offered tender, delicious brisket, sausage and ribs. I thought that I would have no trouble finding similar delicacies here in Sherman. After many disappointments, I just gave up and waited for visits to Central Texas for my fix. I also found myself excited about the arrival of Rudy's on the North Tollway, but that too was a good distance, especially now with the price of gas. So imagine my happiness when a flyer advertising my favorites was delivered to the studio yesterday. After talking with Doug about his place for a few minutes, he promised to deliver a sample so we could taste what he was raving about. Needless to say, everyone here at the studio loved the "Roadkill" sandwiches - tender, saucy chopped beef brisket with hot links in the middle! Gatlinburg Getaway!

These are just five of my favorites from the over 600 images that we captured of Alan and Shirlene's Family! Here in Tennessee, we met with their family and had a wonderful early morning session at a lush, green mountain setting. We used two photographers to make sure that we gathered formal as well as candid shots of their family interacting together at their reunion! It was a really fun time for us and we appreciated the help of Bonnie and Katie in coordinating the location and clothing selections with everyone! That extra attention to detail makes all the difference in the outcome! I can't wait to show them my favorite 270 portraits!!

We are off to photograph a large family group from Sherman who are vacationing in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, Tennessee this week. For the last couple of years we have been able to combine work and play as we capture beautiful images of our clients in breathtaking settings far from home. After an amazing week with some of the finest instructors in the country, I am full of new information and ideas! We are fortunate at our studio to be able to study numerous times during the year at different photography schools across the country. This is really important to me as I believe that there is so much to learn about the art of photography, no matter how much experience you already have! I have brought back so much to share with my clients and I am really excited to practice all that I learned! We did a family session on the beach, and gorgeous maternity and newborn portraits with models from the area. Watching and learning from the best is my favorite way to bring it all back to you, our treasured family of clients and friends.

A perfect day at the studio involves enthusiastic children, great clothing, and lots of creativity in full force! We have been photographing Fallon since she was a little girl, and as she grows up we see her on every birthday! What a treat it is to see her family grow up. Mom, Angie, is an amazing person with a gift for finding the most fabulous clothing for her daughters to wear in their portrait sessions. I am a big fan and wish she would take me shopping with her!!
